2009 Independence Family Fun Day & Community Awards Ceremony
You certainly don't want to miss this annual event - The Independence Family Fun Day & Community Awards Ceremony to be held at the Deighton Griffith School on Saturday, November 28, 2009 from 10.00 a.m. until 9.00 p.m.
This event is being organised by the Christ Church West Central Sports & Cultural Committee which was launched in 2008 by Member of Parliament, Hon. Stephen Lashley.
This is the second year the event is being held, the first was last year at the Briar Hall Pasture. This year the Committee has decided to combine the Awards Ceremony with the Family Fun Day.
It's all intended to honour our nation's 43rd anniversary of Independence by bringing the community together for a full day of fun and entertainment.
You will get a chance to participate in some traditional Bajan fun games such as rounders, egg & spoon races, sack races etc. There will also be competitions in the football, road tennis, volleyball and netball.
Among the list of entertainers will be Cassius Clay & the Eggs Band, Classic, Statement, Natasha Gibson, Mylon Clarke among others.
There will also be fun for the kids with jumping tents etc.
Lots of food and drink will be available and vendors from the community are invited to set up stalls. If you are interested please contact the Constituency Office at 428-9981.
The Awards Ceremony will see persons from the community being honoured in the areas of sports, community activism, culture and entertainment.
Look out for our motorcade which is planned for Saturday 21 November to promote the event.
